Intro – kbnet

Hi!
I'm KB, though sometimes I'm also Nemo, or Sternefunken, or…goodness I do go by Nate A.M. on twitter, but there's something perverse about giving out anything like a real name on a forum.
I like anime, but that's less than helpful here. More specifically, I'm a sakuga nerd and amateur researcher. I do panels at East Coast anime conventions on topics in animation and anime history, and was even a featured presenter at Otakon in 2019. Lately I've been doing more content online, and will have a column on artistunknown.info with some of my sakubuta friends soon
I also like philosophy (my college major), aviation, photography, tabletop RPGs (playing, running, even designing), linguistics, defense and strategic affairs memery, Lego (it's been a while), drawing, and – I suppose – writing. It is my day job, after all. I'm transitioning into a full time technical writing position, but for those of you who follow the Touhou doujin music scene, I used to write articles and copy for BuyDoujin before they up and vanished. I still write about Touhou music sometimes he-

-oh.
Anyway,
Until recently, I was the last active mod of Ace Combat Skies: the largest Ace Combat fan community on the internet until r/acecombat started siphoning all the new blood. It died almost entirely in the last year, and the admin decided he didn't want to bother maintaining it. Nonetheless, forums aren't so dead as all that, as Jae touched on in his post, and I still hold that they're a significantly better basis for many communities than big tent services.

I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I'm pleased to be here anyway.

Welcome! I think you're actually the first person to join the forum that I don't think I really know.
Anyway, you seem like a cool person based on your intro, and I think you'll fit right in. I look forward to getting to know you better.

And yeah, I've known of you and we've got a few friends in common, but I don't think we've ever actually spoken. I look forward to getting to know everyone as well.

I happen to be studying Japanese right now. Level N5 represent. すごいです くコ:彡
It's nice to see someone with a large base of knowledge about anime and its history. I love anime myself; just to name a few of my favorites: Slayers, Steins;gate, and Great Teacher Onizuka. <3
